The New ABnormal
This is a bit of a follow up to my last post – time to think differently. I read a post (on LinkedIn) where a copywriter (sorry, I forget who, and a short trawl through my history yielded no results) pithily wrote “if you use the phrase ‘The New Normal’ I WILL judge you” And I completely get it. The same old hackneyed phrases are rolled out, time and time again. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the phrase “unprecedented times”. I don’t know about you, but when I hear these phrases I just turn off, and the rest of your message is lost.
Here in the UK, the situation for business seems to change almost daily. This makes things incredibly difficult for business, and no amount of people like me glibly saying “Think differently” or “re-imagine your business” makes this any easier. It’s not easy. It’s hard. But there are opportunities out there. And one of the benefits of being a small business is small can be agile. You CAN change the way you do things. Often, established businesses have got into the habit of “doing what they’ve always done” because, under NORMAL circumstances, that’s what has worked. Well, things ain’t normal anymore. We all need to Adapt, Improvise, and Overcome.
It’s also very easy to get into the “How can we survive” mindset. I think you’ve got to get excited – and think “How can my business THRIVE”. Working with my online partners, Bracket Media, we’ve developed a number of online solutions that have helped some of our customers not only weather the storm, but BUILD their business. If you’re interested in discussing what you can do for your business, get in touch.
